Rachel Herring McCord
Rachel Herring McCord is an artist and graphic designer who believes art should be fun and interesting, both to make and to view. Based in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, her work spans from sculptures to paintings, woodwork, and more. Rachel is constantly experimenting with new materials and techniques, driven by her love for working with her hands and discovering new tools. Her creations capture the colorful essence of her coastal surroundings and a lighthearted spirit that invites people to pause, smile, and enjoy the playful side of art. She approaches her work without taking it—or herself—too seriously, creating art that feels both accessible and uplifting.
In 2018, Rachel's first sculpture, The Grayt Pineapple, was accepted into the inaugural call-to-artists for the Underwater Museum of Art, kicking off a love for creating large pieces at her dad's shop in her hometown of Dothan, AL. She enjoys the hands-on nature of sculpting, and working alongside her dad has added a special joy and collaboration to each piece. Together, they dive into each project, exploring new techniques as they bring her whimsical visions to life. Most recently, they completed a replica of the original Grayt Pineapple, recently placed at the pedestrian underpass in Inlet Beach.
